Following the recent 2022 Annual Congress, the WUN has now formalised its official ideology.
As of August 2022, the WUN are now a Marxist-Leninist organisation, or rather, a Communist organisation.
What does this mean?
Firstly, this means that the WUN will be the first mass-organization since the Welsh Socialist Republican Movement to advocate for a true People’s Republic of Wales. We will also officially be Wales’ largest Revolutionary Republican Movement.
Marxism-Leninism is the combination of Marxism (i.e., the analysis that class-struggle drives history, and that socialism is inevitable), and Leninism (a practical organisational way to bring about Socialism).
What does this actually mean, though?
It means that the WUN will adopt the organising methods of successful Socialist organisations across the world, and adapt them to the situation in Wales.
We will organise with Marxist-Leninist principles; i.e., advocating for the mass organisation of the working class in Wales into a Mass Democratic Organization (a ‘Vanguard Party’), with the aim of establishing true, direct, Independent Working-Class power in Wales (what is called the ‘dictatorship of the proletariat’).
We also commit to a coherent anti-imperialist outlook, rejecting the efforts of Capitalists across the World to expand their reach, and undermine working-class democracy, and solidarity.
In terms of recruitment, and new members, this won’t change our already existing policies. We accept anyone who’s done with party politics, willing to help in our communities, eager to learn, and want a Socialist, Independent Wales.
We look forward to continuing a proud Revolutionary Republican Tradition in Wales, one that goes back decades.
